All-Russian Design and Research Institute of metallurgical machine-building (VNIIMETMASH) has been one of the leading Russian enterprises for creation of a wide range of machine-building products for ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, aero-space complex, power-engineering, transport vehicles, oil and gas industry and many other industries for over 50 years.
Academician A.I. Tselicov, twice Hero of Socialist Labour, winner of the Lenin Prize, three times winner of the State Prize, the bearer of M.V. Lomonosov Golden Medal, was a pioneer of the Institutes creation, its organizer and manager. In 1984 Institute was named after him. He led the creation of the scientific school on rolling theory and calculations for rolling mills, outstanding results in the field - of metallurgical technologies and equipment were achieved under his direction. They were awarded with a large number of Government and International prizes. The ideas of A.I. Tselikov largely determine the character of modern metallurgy and have not lost their topicality.
With regard to a great contribution of the Institute to the development of the Russian science, in 1994 VNIIMETMASH, among 60 best Russian scientific organizations has been given the status of the State scientific Center of the Russian Federation.
There are over 1000 employees including 582 scientific workers in VNIIMETMASH including Moscow experimental works and subsidiaries. There are 15 doctors of technical science, 102 candidates of technical science, 3 Honoured Science Workers, 21 Honoured Inventors among them.
During the Institute?s life more than 3000 invention certificate and over 350 patents were received, more than 100 licenses were sold.
Since 1961, 8 developments of the Institute were awarded with the Lenin Prize, 30 - with State Prize of USSR, 23 - with Prize of the USSR Ministers Council, 1 - with the Prize of the Government of Russia, 5 - with Prize of Lenin Komsomol, 2 - with Prize of the Moscow Komsomol, 1 - with the State Prize of the GDR and 1 - with the State Prize of Ukraine.
The main products range comprise:
equipment for coke-chemistry and blast furnaces including charging units without taper, valves for hot blast;
equipment for mini-mills on the base of combined continuous casting and rolling units;
equipment for steel-melting shops, including large-size oxygen converters, units for second metallurgy, modern continuous casting machines; technology and equipment for production of metals with amorphous and micro-crystalline structure directly from molten metal;
main and auxiliary equipment for billet and section mills, mills for hot and cold sheet rolling;
equipment for tube rolling mills including piercing mills, tube welding mills and continuous mills for hot and cold rolling of seamless tubes, mills for cold rolling of precision tubes and profile bending mills;
equipment for rolling of precise billets for machine-building components (balls, axis, rings, pinions, clutch shafts and sleeves);
pressing equipment including hydro- and gasostates;
systems for automation, electric and hydro drive of metallurgical machines;
load lifting and special equipment for municipal services.
