Achievements and outlook

VNIIMETMASH has close cooperation with the leading scientific Centers and machine-building works of Russia and CIS states.

General recognition have been gained many of the Institutes developments such as removable mixers for transportation of molten pig iron, large size oxygen converters, continuous casting machines, the first and unique aggregate combined sectional casting and rolling units.

The mills for cold tube rolling with rolls (HPTR) which were designed in VNIIMETMASH are widely used in Russia and overseas. Thanks to their unique properties the tubes manufactured on HPTR mills are used in atomic power engineering, aero-space complex, shipbuilding and medicine. This work was awarded with the Lenin Prize. Such mills have been supplied to 20 states.

It is continuing design of part-rolling mills. There is a stable demand for them in the industrialized countries. For example, the unit for rolling of raceways billets (for automobile industry) has been exploited successfully in the USA.

Among unique supplied equipment there is greatest press with compressing force of 65000 t for the works at Issuar (France).

The geography of export supplies is very wide. The Moscow experimental works of VNIIMETMASH alone has supplied more than 180 equipment units to Great Britain, Germany, Italy, USA, France, Sweden , Japan , etc.

VNIIMETMASH has been awarded with the Prize "Golden Mercury" for creation of the equipment which has no world analogs as its great contribution to the international cooperation .

Fulfilling of different tasks for enterprises and the Moscow municipal services has always been an important direction of the Institute's activity.

Over 100 equipment units have been designed in the Institute; they operate in such works as Serp i Molot , Filit, ZIL, AZLK, etc. They are also used in commercial, sport and cultural enterprises of Moscow including the unique elevator for the Gostiny Dwor , transformable acoustic partition wall with a surface area of 3600 m² for Sport complex "Olympiysky", etc.
