The ball-rolling mills designed in VNIIMETMASH are intended for obtaining of crushing balls from 25 to 125 mm in diameter through hot rolling in helical passes from carbon, low-and middle-alloyed round rod steel. The ball-rolling mills and rolling process have been designed on the basis of inventions.
The ball-rolling process is carried out from a round rod steel blank by means of two rolls with helical passes. When one-pass grooving happens one ball is rolled per every roll revolution. When multi-pass grooving takes place the number of balls which go out from rolls per one revolution is equal to the pass number of helical pass. Passing out from rolls the balls are intensively water-cooled and quenched which provides high ball wear resistance in mills for ore, coal and cement grinding. In order to raise roll precision and quality and simplify their production VNIIMETMASH has designed special devices for grooving the helical passes of ball-rolling rolls with variable pitch on the lathe.
The ball rolling vs. ball stamping permits to raise the productivity of equipment by 2-8 times and decrease metal consumption by 10-15 %. On the basis of ball-rolling mills processing units for production of high-quality crushing balls including the furnace for blank pre-heating, the ball-rolling mill, the hardening and transportation devices have been constructed. |
