VNIIMETMASH has a good experience in development of big-capacity converters with different capacity from 50 to 400 t. According to technical projects of VNIIMETMASH converters, working at many metallurgical works of CIS and at some foreign countries (India, Poland, Slovakia at al) are made.

The characteristic peculiarity of converters, designed by VNIIMETMASH, are: special converter mouth, preventing shell deformation, original connection between supporting ring and shell, self-aligning bearing support, reliable in work. The use of multi-motor drives, mounted on converter trunnions, reduces the dynamic load, mass and dimensions of drives and secures the stable position of converter shell.

The most technically complicated tasks, connected with simultaneous oxygen supply through top lance and bottom tuyeres (combined blasting), are decided at 250 t capacity converter, exploited at the Dneprodzerginsk metallurgical work (Ukraine). At the base of exploitation results the series of converters are elaborated.
