The casting-rolling module has been developed for production of reinforcement with productivity to 50...100 thou t/y (diameter 10...22 mm) and round bars (diameter from 12 to 30 mm) and their equivalent strips, hexahedrons and squares. If the customer requests the unit can be equipped with additional equipment for production of angle parts from 25 x 25 to 40 x 40 mm.


In the shop lay-out modern unconventional technical solutions are foreseen:

  • Use of integrated processes continuous casting and rolling at the casting-rolling unit including the one-strand caster and the small bars rolling mill;

  • Integration of the arc furnace and LF at one block with united room of control desk, united charging of loose materials and united steel car moving the ladle to furnace, to a position for LF treatment and to a position for the ladle removal;

  • The use of compact roughing stands group consisting of horizontal and vertical stands, which permits minimization of rolling mill dimensions and heat losses of the rolled material;

  • The rolling mill lay-out foresees operation both on “the continuous billet” (direct combination) and on discrete billets produced by shearing at caster and the change of these alternatives during operation process;

  • The special design of cooling bed and removing devices permits to produce billets with the required length; this considerably reduces a working area.

A direct integration of the caster and the rolling mill into a united technological system as compared to the mill feeding with continuous-casting billets through a storehouse ensures energy saving, reduces the equipment mass as well the shop area. It also extends the scope of production, increases the yield and stabilizes the rolling mill operation.


The casting- rolling aggregate can be builded on the metal consumption site. In this case a finished production cost is decreased approximately by 30% at the expense of transportation exclusion.


The described principal scheme of small bars production at the metallurgical module with the capacity up to 100.000 t/y ensures its competitiveness. This scheme has no analogs in the metallurgy world-wide.
