Hydrostat

VNIIMETMASH has developed the process of hydrostatic extrusion of thin-wall tubes made from the powder aluminium oxide (polycor) as well as the design of automatized hydrostatic press. This permits to produce high-quality polycor with high productivity.

The hydrostatic extrusion of the designed hydrostat provides high size accuracy and geometric form of polycor tubes, high and uniform material density as well as considerable cost reduction as compared with the tubes of foreign companies. The polycor tubes are used in the most efficient light sources, they are sodium vapour lamps with high pressure.

Hydrostat

The institute has developed:

  • extruding process;

  • moulds (including multi-position) for extruding in universal hydrostates ("Wet" extruding);

  • specialized equipment for high-productivity "dry" extruding (up to 240 pc/h).
